CASE STUDY
Indian Solution for Client Recruitment Issues
Situation
In 2007, one of our long-standing clients approached us to ask for further support of a clinical trial already running with ACM-Pivotal. The trial was being supported across Europe but patient recruitment was proving a challenge in some regions. The client was considering expanding the trial to a global scale by including sites in India an emerging market with a large native patient population.
Objective
To effectively communicate with our client to facilitate the addition of sites in India to ensure that the process would be seamless, thereby achieving the best possible outcome in terms of client satisfaction and successful addition of sites to meet patient enrolment needs.
Due to the short timescale, it was crucial to support a fast and effective set-up of the Indian section of the trial.
Solution
We promptly opened discussions with our facility in India, providing them with full trial specifics and timelines, in order to jointly ascertain the most appropriate strategy to adopt for this case.
A proposed solution was then put to the client in a face-to-face meeting. The discussions included budget and timeline implications, but importantly outlined the benefits and obstacles to the project.
Furthermore, a site visit to our laboratory in India was fully coordinated by the ACM-Pivotal Project Manager to ensure that the client was 100 per cent comfortable with our recommendation and that our facility in Mumbai met with all expected criteria in terms of capability and service levels.
Benefits
The addition of sites within India to the running trial was completed within a tight time frame causing no disruption to the overall study timescales. This expansion of sites has resolved the critical issue the client was facing regarding patient enrolment. The trial is now running smoothly with the expected patient recruitment numbers to be met by the scheduled end of the study.
