ACM-Pivotal Continues to Enhance its Pathology Services for Clinical Trial Testing
Customer Demand for More Specialized Services Brings Respected Experts to Team
Rochester, NY, June 2, 2008 –ACM-Pivotal, the global central laboratory that continually defines the customer-service standard with its inherently flexible approach, today announced the addition of two board-certified pathologists to its Pathology Services team for clinical trials. Enzo Fallone, MD FCAP and Rudolf Ulirsch, MD FCAP bring their anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, hematopathology and cytopathology expertise to therapeutically-focused clinical trials, including female health and pediatric studies. In addition, Ulirsch has been appointed to lead the group as director of Pathology, and Randi Alterman LaPoint, MD as the assistant director.
The growing need for highly-qualified pathologists with varied board certifications is partially driven by drug development companies researching novel drug compounds. More specialized interpretations are becoming critical to keep clinical trials on track. To address that need, ACM-Pivotal’s growing Pathology Services team combines safety and pathology testing from a single lab that ensures customers receive consistent, analyzable test results with faster and cleaner reporting –saving time, money and manpower.
“We are proud to attract these well-respected pathologists with their level of expertise to our team,” said Elena Logan, VP, Clinical Trials, ACM-Pivotal. “We maintain a high percentage of repeat customers that leverage our Pathology Services because they realize the benefits of handling both safety and pathology testing by one organization. With the increased demand in pathology services, we are constantly evaluating the industry trends and as a result, hiring top talent to meet our clients’ needs. The addition of Drs. Fallone and Ulirsch will augment the high standard of pathology services we deliver to our customers.”
Fallone is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and cytopathology. He completed his residency training at the University of Rochester where he held the chief resident position. Fallone’s fellowship training at Upstate Medical University focused his experience in cytopathology. Other areas of special interest include fine needle aspiration cytology and gynecologic cytopathology.
Life Fellow Ulirsch is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, hematopathology and cytopathology and received his residency training at the Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. He conducted his fellowship training in hematopathology at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Previously he held full-time faculty positions at Loyola University of Chicago Medical Center, as well as a clinical associate professor at USC. Ulirsch has also served as a hospital and independent laboratory medical director with a Board of Directors seat at the hospital. He is currently a CAP laboratory inspection team leader and his areas of special interest include hematopathology, medical information systems and quality management.
